How To Cook Brats In Oven

Introduction

If you want to cook bratwurst, the best way to go is cast-iron skillet or grill. But you can make them in the oven as well. Not everyone has a grill or not available all the time.

And if you hate to stand over the stove and cook under heat, then the oven is your thing. For everyone, I got a solution about how to cook brats in oven fast and easy way.

Preparations

Some brats come half-cooked, and some come raw so take your favorite one. Besides, size can impact the cooking time. Usually, the thicker and larger ones take more time, and thinner ones take lesser. Get everything I mentioned down, and you are good to go.

Ingredients

  • Uncooked bratwurst 
  • Vegetable oil
  • Foil paper or Parchment Paper

Instructions

  1. At first, preheat your oven at 200° C or 400° F. Place the rack in the middle of your oven.
  2. Now lay the foil paper or parchment paper to avoid a greasy mess. 
  3. Use the vegetable oil over the brats and place them on the paper. Make sure they don’t stick with each other. 
  4. Now let the brats cook for 10 minutes on one side. 
  5. Using a meat tong, flip all of your brats. Again cook for another 7 to 10 minutes.
  6. Observe, so you don’t overcook once your bratwurst becomes brown, stop the oven.
  7. Baked brats taste best when served quickly.

Broiling in the Oven

You can try broiling your brats to experience a different type of dish. New ovens have variable broiling, but it is just an “on” and “off” switch on older models. However, the setting is the cooking method are the same.

Step 1

Keep your rack at high. Broilers are situated in the higher part of the oven. To get the best heat, keep your rack as high as possible.

Step 2

Preheat broiler at high settings. If your oven has any settings option, keep it on high, but it doesn’t. It’s already on high. Just preheat for 10 minutes.

Step 3

Place the rack into a broiler pan or bowl. It helps the brats cook evenly. Also, it grabs all the juices brats release while cooking. If that juice falls directly into the oven, that can cause fire hazards. 

Step 4

Broil the bratwurst for 15 to 20 minutes in total. But don’t just leave them in the oven. Keep flipping them every 5 minutes with a spatula or tong.

Step 5

Look through your oven, and if you find your brats are brown, it’s time to take them out. Don’t expect any grill marks still; parts touching the racks should have a darker color, meaning evenly cooked.

Keep them wrap with foil paper and serve after 5 to 10 minutes for tasting.
