What Do Muslims Celebrate Instead Of Christmas

Introduction

In December, when there is snow everywhere, it feels like a festive is already in nature. But Christian community celebrates Christmas with huge preparation.

There, on the other hand, Muslims don’t even get into this celebration. But The Holy Quran says that the Christians are also part of Islam, but they follow their prophet Jesus, not Mohamad SAW.

If Muslims say Christians are equal to them, then what do Muslims celebrate instead of Christmas?

Do Muslims Celebrate Christmas

Muslims never celebrate Christmas, at least not from any religious corner. The reason being in Islam, Allah has no family, no son, no equal. Christianity says that he is the son of God and is a God himself that goes directly against Islamic rules. So Muslims don’t celebrate this day.

What do Muslims do on Christmas Day

Though Quran Says the person Christian people call Jesus is actually Isa (AS), a prophet of Allah. But in Quran, the birth reference of Isa (AS) or Jesus for Christians indicates it was not a winter night.

Instead, if we take Quran’s consideration, it interprets that Isa(AS) or Jesus was born in the Autumn season. Not just Quran; if you look into the New Testament, the verse says the shepherd slept outside and the season was for ripping fruits.

This doesn’t refer to anything about winter, so December is out of the question. Because of this confusion, there is no special day on 25th December in Muslim Community.

Muslim Celebrations

If you want to know if there is any religious occasion for Muslims, yes, there are. And actually, there are two great occasions for Muslims each year. Eid-ul Fitr and Eid-ul Adha. Now here is a very short description of both celebrations.

Eid-ul Fitr

Eid-ul Fitr is the first Celebration of the year for Muslims. This is a whole month of practice. Just like the Gregorian calendar Islamic calendar has 12 months as well.

And during the month of Ramadan, Muslims observe fast for  Allah’s mercy. They stop eating before sunrise and break their fast after sunset. But it is determined by Azan or prayer call. After the month of Ramadan 1st of Shawal is Eid day or Celebration day like Christmas.

Eid-ul Adha

Eid-ul Fitr is about cleaning the sins and getting Allah’s mercy, and getting close to Allah for a Muslim. Here Eid-ul Adha is means sacrifice.

The event started with Hazrat Abraham (AS), who went to sacrifice his son Ismael (AS) for the sake of Allah. But Allah has shown his mercy upon Ismael, and Instead of his life, Abraham (AS) found he slaughtered a ram.

To respect this historical event and get forgiven by Allah, Muslims have to sacrifice their favorite goat or cow in the name of Allah. And the main intention here is to kill the beast inside the man who is greedy and cruel.

Conclusion

It doesn’t matter if Christmas is not a religious holy day for Muslims. It’s a holiday for them. Christmas is about giving gifts to family and children; a Muslim can also do it.

Islam doesn’t stop a Muslim from sharing happiness in someone else’s Celebration. As long as it’s not a shirk (comparing something or someone to Allah), a Muslim can enjoy Christmas as a family holiday. We hope you know what do Muslims celebrate instead of Christmas.
